Fallout from the Election (IMHO)

Thank you Justice Roberts;  I think.  You had the "deciding vote" for the Constitutionality of the Affordable Healthcare Act and all you could come up with was "it's a tax."  Really?  You won't have to worry about it.  You'll have the "nobility plan" at your beckoned call.  You, as well as all legislators, and appointees have a system for life that will not be touched by yourselves, or your peers, or replacements.

A tax; a dues; a fee for being born in this country.  Like we need another one.  I like the medical plan I have.  My family has chosen it because it best fits our needs.  If for some reason our plan doesn't meet the government's expectations, we have to research our options and select the plan that the government says best fits our needs.  They do know best (from what I hear), after all, they've done such a great job with the economy, creating jobs (in China), and dealing with foreign policy (2009 Apology Tour -don't get me started on Benghazi).

Now that "O" has won re-election, the details are FINALLY being discussed in the public forum -they were there before the election, but nobody wanted to say anything about them.  A 3.8% tax on capital gains starting 2013, $2500 fine for not selecting a plan by 2014; which the IRS will be more than happy to collect.  They are already obligated to not distribute your tax refund (if you still play that game) should you not have a plan selected.  If you make under $92,000 a year, your plan gets partially subsidized by the government.  Wow!  Maybe I need to watch how much money I make so I can make sure at the end of the year I can qualify for that.  Maybe they didn't plan on that -people making sure they don't make enough to earn themselves out of a subsidy.  That can't be good for the economy can it?

I consider myself a conservative -with some influence from Frederic Bastiat.  Smaller government is what is needed.  I heard it mentioned on television that healthcare is the last leg of the welfare state.  I disagree.  I think after everyone is issued a car, a house, told who to marry, and how many children they can have will the welfare state be complete.  When will government be considered "just the right size?"

This post started off thanking Justice Roberts for clarifying what Obamacare really is: a tax.  Why the GOP didn't jump on this is beyond me.  I'm sure it may have made Mitt look hypocritical, but there should have been some wiggle room for him to operate through.  So now we will all hear about how scandalous, or devious the plan is.  I'm not even going to get into the whole "death panel" debate. You can call it what you want.  A duck is still a duck.

Quack.
