Cord Cutter.

Having cut the cord from Cable and Satellite several years ago, my life has adjusted to the overwhelming information I used to expose myself to on a regular basis.  I do miss the news, and sports (live broadcasts), but am finding out that ignorance is bliss.

I do get some news from Talk Radio, and I take most of it for what its worth.  When I hear something that catches my ear, I now research it, and not take it as fact.  I hope this message gets out for those who may be on the "left" so they too can become better informed on subjects, and not fall prey to multimedia outlets placing their spin on things.

I gather most of my TV entertainment  through a little box that sits on my TV (Roku), and watch the international channels to see things like world news, and keep in touch with events.  I have also found a German language channel to help me keep my Deutsch up to date.

I have noticed one thing; the foreign press channels have a range of reporters that give the news a somewhat bland feature.  I thought about this a little more and realized that they don't have a superstar figurehead spooning pablum to the masses.  They have reporters -actually reporting the news.  ARD actually has 5-7 reporters that they rotate through for their daily news report (Der Tagesshau) so one is not above the other, and no one gets special treatment.  I would also venture a guess that it might actually be cheaper to do it this way, than to have a figurehead making an eight digit annual salary.  I also don't like supporting other channels that I disagree with completely (on principle) by subsidizing them (have to have them all so I can watch one).

I've heard rumblings that the NFL (American football) will be coming soon -with some strings attached, but MLB (baseball), MLS (soccer), and the NHL (hockey) are already here -albeit a total season pass, or month by month plan.  It's good to have no strings attached.  IF, a provider ever decided to offer services a la carte, I may have to reconsider, but until then I am fine with having cut the cord.
