It is always hard to suffer through the loss of a loved one. Especially someone you are close to. I have just recently experienced this loss. It hurts, but life goes on.
Ask yourself this; what is more important, seeing a loved one alive so you can express your feelings and thoughts with? I know I made the right choice by going to visit him before he passed. Better to talk to someone in a hospital bed, than look at someone in a coffin, and feel the regrets of "I should have come sooner," or "I never told him/her I loved them" -etc. Maybe clear up some misconceptions, or tell someone something they should know? Maybe spend those last few moments with someone before they pass on into the gates of judgment. Wouldn't that be a great time to bring someone to the Lord? -Life of eternal Paradise, or life of eternal suffering.... hmm.
God bless you Grandpa, you are missed by us all.
I know you were a believer. See you at the gates of Heaven.
