On this day, 63 years ago, a sacrifice was made. It may have been a family losing a son, a wife losing her husband, a child losing their dad. It definitely was someone sacrificing themselves to help a fallen buddy, or several buddies only to become a casualty themselves. Having met one of the men who stormed the beaches in Normandy, you would never be able to tell the horrors this man saw, or feel the emotion of losing the friends he did in the following months. The sacrifice was costly. The loss too great. All I can do is muster a few typed words and try to convey my deep admiration for those who have served before me. My prayers are with you all.
