Eight U.S. Attorneys were fired. Eight of them. Individuals who serve at the pleasure of the President. They can be replaced due to ineffectiveness, pursuing personal interests, or other reasons that are unbecoming to the administration.
Eight of them.
They all knew the rules when they took the positions. They'd better; otherwise a lot of money is being wasted in the academic institutions cranking these lawyers out. If not, I guess they missed those classes.
Eight of them.
Now, the Dems want to subpoena White House staff members to tell all they know -so if one story doesn't jive exactly with another they can have more investigations and strip the White House down one staffer at a time.
Eight of them.
I think President Bush should answer all of the questions involving this case. Right after they hold the hearings about the 93 attorneys Bill Clinton had fired when he took office (two of which were conducting investigations against friends and party members, and then the additional 25 or so after that). I mean, 93+ is more than eight, correct?
All of this attacking by the Dems -just to let the population know that they are back in the driver's seat. Just to show that they have power. If they continue to be so negative and nasty towards everything anyone does, I think that the population that put them there will try to keep them in check with the '08 elections. So if I were Howard Dean, or Nancy Pelosi and I wanted to make sure that I could remain in power past January 2009, I might want to back off a little and let this thing blow over.
As mentioned previously -they serve at the pleasure of the President; and after all, it was only eight of them.
