Black Friday

The Mrs. decided to head out and brave the masses for her first time. In the local Wal-Mart there were several fist-fights, and other events that warranted the police to be called in. At the local Galleria, a woman was struck by a car in the parking lot and had to be flown by helicopter to the regional medical center for severe injuries. The electronics section of all of the stores she was in were swamped with people trying to get Nintendo DS, Playstation 3s (if any were left from the original release date), and XBox 360s.

There were lines around the Best Buy that she estimated at 400 people plus (line wrapped around behind it, and came up in front of the Linens and Things store next to it). JC Pennys, Target, Macy's and Kohls were swamped, but suprisingly enough, Sears was almost empty (note to those who venture out next year).

With all of the hub-bub about the day after Thanksgiving as the busiest day of the year for shopping, she said never again. Yes there were good deals, and yes, the selection was great, but the stress of dealing with the local population in such a concentrated area killed it for any future venturing out on that day.

Oh, and by the way, Happy Holidays.
